Meet Miya!
German Shepard, Boxer, and a little white Shepard according to her DNA test.
DOB 4/22/14

Miya is a very sweet dog that has found herself looking for a new home through no fault of her own. She does well on a leash, and is used to walking in line next to you. She has been going on a couple of long walks per day and sometimes one short one. She’s loves to play fetch and run, but she thinks its keep away, so you can use two balls and have her keep dropping the first to get the second one! She loves to play in the yard. She also loves to ride in the car, just tell her: “UP” and she jumps in. She stays sitting in the car like a little lady and is very cute!

If she is left for extended periods of time, it would be best to crate her. If she is left for short periods, she does fine without a crate if you keep the garbage can covered and slippers out of chewing range. She does enjoy a good chew and should be in a home stocked with antlers, Kong balls, and other sturdy chewing toys. She is somewhat protective of house and family and will bark at door if she hears strangers.

She will nudge and lick you to get you to pay attention to her and pet her. That’s not a bad thing, unless you are trying to type or drink coffee…then you need to watch out for the nudges! Other than that, she would love to be in your lap and be pet all day! If you are up and about in your home, she will be your shadow, following you from room to room.

She needs to be slowly and gently introduced to someone coming in the house, but then she is fine with them. She will also jump up on people to greet them. She may bark when greeting some dogs and likes to choose her dog friends for herself.

Miya is VERY smart and knows:
Sit, Stay, Wait, Stop, Come, lay down, and paw. She is good on a leash except at the initial few min when really excited to go out. She has been trained by Barkbusters and has learned to keep behind or beside you when on her leash. If she pulls, tell her “No” and bring her to your side. She knows that once she is back in position, she will be praised.

Miya is on a grain free diet because grains tend to give her dry, itchy skin.
She is a very smart, sassy, and beautiful girl that is looking for a family that will love her forever…is that you?
