Hi, my name is Miya and I am looking for someone to love me as much as I love you. I am a tall and slender 3 year old Dutch Shepherd (mix). I would much rather talk about how strong, proud and full of energy I am than my weight but I know it may be important to you so I will say it is in the 60+ pound range.

I am definitely not a small dog though if you will let me I will spend as much time trying to get on your lap as I can. If you try to ignore my loving stares and gentle head nudges I will make sure to let you know I need you by trying to hold your hand, I know sometimes I may be trying too hard but I really just want to be close to you. I would be happiest if we were hugging.

I came to IL from TN with my boyfriend and 2 puppies but I am ready to make a life of my own as the kids are old enough to take care of themselves now. I am currently in a foster home with a 4 month old puppy and I love playing with him so much. He doesn’t know that I let him win as often as I do in tag, tug-a-rope and wrestling. I share my toys and food with him too. I also love my new small foster people, I think they call them children. The smallest, who I heard is about the same age as me, is so much fun and her hugs are the best. She can have my toys anytime and I have no problem with her taking them out of my mouth so we can keep playing.

My foster family has taken me on a few walks and I am figuring out what this thing around my neck is all about. I like walks, there is so much to see and smell but I need a little practice navigating all the new things I encounter. I know where I need to go potty and will wait for you at the door to let me out. I love having a fenced yard to run around in and sniff the spring air and chase my new dog friend but if you make sure to take me for walks often I would probably be ok without a fence. At night I have a nice crate where I sleep but a few times I have fallen asleep on my bed and my foster dad said he didn’t have the heart to wake me. I thought that was really nice of him but I really don’t mind the crate.
I hope to hear from you soon. I know we will be best friends.
