Ophelia is approximately 11 weeks old and is a German Shepard/Lab/Hound mix. She weights a little over 13 pounds and is gaining weight rapidly. She’s a great eater and behaves very well when eating. She is crate trained and the house breaking is going great. She is with her brother now and they love playing and frolicking together. She is very alert and attentive on walks, when her brother isn’t trying to wrestle with her. Even though she’s a bit smaller than her brother she can hold her own. She likes to hold the leash in her mouth when we walk her. When we let her do that she acts like she’s the grand marshal in the parade. So big and proud. She has her period of running and fun and also likes to relax.

She would love to be a lap dog but I think she may get to be to big for that but she is a cuddler. When we’ve had her off leash in the open area of our yard she sticks by us. We also have a fenced in area that she loves to run around in. With this heat, a nice nap under a bush is quite the reprieve from a hard day at work!
She is very sweet and loves to be petted and will sit in your lap. Then she’ll got off and play with her toys and is very content doing that. When we leave we do crate her due to her age put I’m sure when she’s older and has grown out of the chewing stage she’ll be fine left uncrated.

Her personality goes with her beautiful eyes, loving and sweet. She is an adorable puppy and will be a beautiful adult dog.

Illinois law requires that all of our dogs and puppies be spay/neutered within 30 days of adoption. In order to fully comply with this regulation and reduce the number of homeless dogs and puppies, we do not permit out of state adoptions of unaltered dogs or puppies.

Puppies have special needs and require a home where there will be someone available to care for, socialize, and train them during the day. If your family is away from the home for several hours at a time, please consider adopting a “teen” or adult dog.

Our standard adoption fee is $295 cash or check and $300 credit card ($5 processing fee). It includes spay/neuter when age appropriate at our participating vets, age appropriate core vaccinations, fecal testing, deworming, flea and tick preventative,1st vet visit at one of our participating vets, and micro-chipping.

We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family to approve an adoption. Please email safehavendogsIL@yahoo.com for an application or additional details.
